How to Italicize Text on LinkedIn

There is no italic button in the LinkedIn post box. You can still get italics by pasting italic characters. Try it below.

0 / 3,000 characters

Select text, then pick a style. Nothing is selected? The word at your cursor is styled.

Good to know
  • Styled text is made of special characters. It pastes into LinkedIn as it looks here, but it is not searchable and some screen readers read it badly. Use it for emphasis, not whole posts.
  • LinkedIn sometimes removes empty lines when you paste. “Keep blank lines” puts one invisible character on each empty line so your spacing survives. Turn it off if you would rather copy the text exactly as typed.
  • A web address in your post shows a link card in the preview, as LinkedIn does. LekhKit cannot load other sites, so it shows the domain; LinkedIn fills in the real title and picture.
  • Attachments and mentions are preview only. Copying carries text, so add media and tag people inside LinkedIn.
  • The counter counts each styled letter as 2 characters to stay on the safe side. LinkedIn’s own count may differ.

Steps

  1. Type your words in the box above.
  2. Copy the italic version.
  3. Paste it into your LinkedIn post or comment.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a keyboard shortcut for italics on LinkedIn?

Not in the standard post editor. Ctrl+I does nothing there.

Does the text stay italic after I post?

Yes. It is made of ordinary characters, so it is saved with the post.
