Good to know
  • Styled text is made of special characters. It pastes into LinkedIn as it looks here, but it is not searchable and some screen readers read it badly. Use it for emphasis, not whole posts.
  • LinkedIn sometimes removes empty lines when you paste. “Keep blank lines” puts one invisible character on each empty line so your spacing survives. Turn it off if you would rather copy the text exactly as typed.
  • A web address in your post shows a link card in the preview, as LinkedIn does. LekhKit cannot load other sites, so it shows the domain; LinkedIn fills in the real title and picture.
  • Attachments and mentions are preview only. Copying carries text, so add media and tag people inside LinkedIn.
  • The counter counts each styled letter as 2 characters to stay on the safe side. LinkedIn’s own count may differ.

How to underline text on LinkedIn

  1. Enter your words in the box above.
  2. Copy the underlined text.
  3. Paste it into LinkedIn.

A word of caution

On the web, an underline usually means a link. Readers may try to click underlined words, so use it sparingly. Bold or italics are often a better way to add emphasis to a line.

Where underline helps

Frequently asked questions

Is the underline a real format?

It is made with a combining character that attaches a line under each letter. It pastes as text, so LinkedIn keeps it.

Can I combine underline with bold?

Yes. In the full LekhKit editor you can stack bold, italic, underline and strikethrough on the same words.
