How to Strikethrough Text on LinkedIn

LinkedIn does not let you cross out words with a button. Use the box below to turn any text into strikethrough and paste it into your post.

0 / 3,000 characters

Select text, then pick a style. Nothing is selected? The word at your cursor is styled.

Good to know
  • Styled text is made of special characters. It pastes into LinkedIn as it looks here, but it is not searchable and some screen readers read it badly. Use it for emphasis, not whole posts.
  • LinkedIn sometimes removes empty lines when you paste. “Keep blank lines” puts one invisible character on each empty line so your spacing survives. Turn it off if you would rather copy the text exactly as typed.
  • A web address in your post shows a link card in the preview, as LinkedIn does. LekhKit cannot load other sites, so it shows the domain; LinkedIn fills in the real title and picture.
  • Attachments and mentions are preview only. Copying carries text, so add media and tag people inside LinkedIn.
  • The counter counts each styled letter as 2 characters to stay on the safe side. LinkedIn’s own count may differ.

Steps

  1. Type or paste your text above.
  2. Copy the crossed-out result.
  3. Paste it into LinkedIn.

Ideas for strikethrough

Good to know

Strikethrough is made with a combining character laid over each letter, so the line can look a little different between devices. Test it on your phone. If a line looks like an underline, try a shorter phrase or a different style.

Frequently asked questions

Can I strike through only one word?

Yes. Convert just that word and paste it into the middle of your sentence.

Will the strikethrough show in comments too?

Yes. Comments accept the same plain-text characters.
