How to Write a LinkedIn Post
A good LinkedIn post has one idea, a clear opening and short lines. Here is a process you can repeat.
Steps
- Pick one idea that helps one type of reader.
- Write the hook: the point or a question, in one short line.
- Add two to five short lines that deliver on it.
- End with a question or one clear next step.
- Format lightly: line breaks, a short list, maybe one bold phrase.
- Preview it on desktop and mobile, then fix the opening.
What to leave out
- Long introductions and greetings.
- Several ideas in one post.
- Hashtags in bold or special characters.
- Walls of text.
Length
A post can be up to 3,000 characters, but most do their job in far fewer. Say what you came to say and stop.
Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I use?
A few relevant ones at the end are enough. Write them in plain text so LinkedIn recognises them.
